A New Chapter for Sears Island Studios

Sears Island Studios artwork and creative life

A retrospective reflection written in October 2026 · October 2026

As I write this in October 2026, I'm looking at a year of rediscovery, experiments and small decisions that added up.

I've made room for a larger creative workspace, revisited old paintings, tried new approaches and started sharing my artwork more intentionally. I've also been working on this website, which has turned out to be an adventure of its own.

Sears Island Studios isn't meant to fit one neat category. There are paintings, mixed-media pieces and handmade items, and I expect that list will keep changing. That's what I like about it.

I've been a self-taught artist for a long time. Returning to my creative practice isn't about starting from nothing. It's about bringing the experience I already have into a new chapter and giving myself room to grow.

If you've found your way here, welcome. I hope you'll look around, come back to see what's new and enjoy following wherever the creative process leads next.

One of the nicest parts of this year has been the encouragement I've received from my boyfriend and my kids. They know art is more than a passing interest for me. Their support has helped me make room for it again and share it more openly.

My work moves between abstract art, collage, handmade jewelry, flowers as inspiration and whatever else captures my imagination. I hope some of what I create feels joyful or inspirational to someone else. I also hope this journal feels like a visit with a friend, complete with works in progress and the occasional creative detour.

And I don't want to leave my friends out of this story. Along with my boyfriend and my kids, they've been wonderfully supportive as I find my way back to creating, exhibiting and sharing this work.
